And the Winner Is... Uncle Brutha’s Fire Sauces Bring Home Top Honors as They Pick up Six More Top Ranked Industry Awards
Brennan Proctor and his multiple award winning products; Uncle Brutha’s Fire
Sauce No. 9: Chile Verde, Garlic and Ginger and Fire Sauce No. 10: Four
Chiles and Garlic have done it yet again. These highly acclaimed products are
bringing home six more top ranked awards from the prestigious 2008 Fiery
Foods Challenge portion of the annual Zest Fest sponsored by Chile Pepper
magazine in Fort Worth, Texas.
Uncle Brutha’s Fire Sauces are superbly crafted using only the finest ingredients
creating a winning flavor and heat combination that continues to be celebrated by
leading food industry professionals and hot sauce connoisseurs alike. These
newly received awards for excellence will be added to the existing collection of
20 awards amassed since their introduction just three short years ago in January
2004.
The Uncle Brutha line of sauces has taken on a new look since their last trip to
Texas to compete in the 2006 Fiery Food Challenge. A change that obviously
can be seen as for the better since Uncle Brutha was awarded a Golden Chile
(1st Place) in the Marketing-Label category. “I am especially happy to have our
new look recognized in this way,” says Proctor. “I was hesitant to change what I
already believed to be a good design. Receiving a 1st Place Golden Chile
Award demonstrates having attained our goal of offering consumers a superb
product with an equally superb presentation appropriate for each and every
setting.”
Uncle Brutha’s Fire Sauces won top honors in five of the eight categories
entered. Fire Sauce No. 9 won a Golden Chile (1st place) in the Chile Specific
Category and 3rd place in the Asian Style category. Fire Sauce No.10 was
awarded 3rd place in the Caribbean-Style category, 3rd place in the Habanero
category and 3rd place in the International Style category.
These recent acknowledgments take the total number of National Awards for
the two products in excess of 25.
“I’m truly excited indeed!” says Proctor. “This only helps solidify these products
as some of the most versatile sauces on the market. They’ve consistently
received top honors in a variety of different categories”
Marketing specialist Melissa Blatt is excited as well; “It’s been very exciting after
having come on board back in November of 2005 and seeing the products win all
those awards in the 2005 and 2006 competitions. When we opened the gourmet
foods store on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., we took a hiatus from competing
in the 2007 awards competitions. I have to say that it was truly incredible to see
them win six awards right off the bat once the focus was brought back to the
sauces by entering them in this year’s competition.” Fire Sauce No. 9 was also recently nominated for and selected as Hot Sauce Of The Month on the popular site for “Chileheads” Sweat & Spice.com.
The focus however was never really taken off the sauces. They continue to grow
in popularity as well as receive rave reviews from anyone who tries them at one
of the many tasting opportunities that UB sponsors. Currently, you’ll find one of
UB’s smiling nieces or nephews offering tastes in Mid-Atlantic region Whole
Foods stores and at Eastern Market in Washington, DC at the weekend Farmers
Market. What’s next for Uncle Brutha and his hot sauce company you ask? With
ideas constantly in the works and new things cooking in the UB kitchen there is
surely another award winning product or two on the horizon.
